FAQ: Galilee’s Women’s Ministry
Galilee Christian Church has a dynamic Women’s Ministry.
Q: Can you tell us about it?
- Our Women’s exists to reach women for Christ, helping women build strong relationships with Christ and one another for the purpose of service.
Q: What are some of the special events sponsored by GCC’s Women’s Ministry?
- Our special events planners always manage to include food and fun filled fellowship. Kick-off for the upcoming year is Aug 20th at noon. Our guest speaker is humorist Ellen Hester. We will serve a catered salad and will showcase the upcoming Bible Studies and other parts of our Women’s Ministry. Attending the Kick-off is a great way to learn about us. At this Kick-off, we will distribute a complete list of upcoming events for 2011-2012.
Q: What are some of the upcoming program’s of your Women’s Ministry?
- We sponsor a golf tournament in the fall. We have a monthly tea party for our visitors. We have Bible studies and periodic evening vespers services for women. There are social and spiritual events, too, such as an annual Spring Tea which attracts over 200 ladies.
Q: How do your Bible Study groups work?
- Our classes augment the other small groups offered at Galilee. Our Women’s Ministry has two classes: one on Monday evening, and Tuesday morning. Classes begin in August and end before Christmas. New ones begin in January and end before summer. All of our studies are Bible based, with an emphasis on the woman’s perspective.
Q: What does your women’s ministry do for widows?
- We have a program specially designed for our widows. Members of this ministry team contact our widows with a gift at Christmas. We also make other social contacts, such as phone calls and cards, and assist throughout the year with any problems they might have, such as taking care of odd jobs, which these women can’t handle by themselves.
Q: We hear this ministry oversees the library?
- We have a broad collection of fiction and non-fiction books for check out. Other resources, such as teaching kits, can be checked out by special arrangement.
Q: Who can be a part of GCC’s Women’s Ministry?
- Any woman who wants to share is welcome. Our committees oversee areas of prayer, special events, Bible studies, widows program, and our resource library. In addition to those committees and their chairpersons, we have a director, co-director, secretary, and treasurer. Our classes are open to all women who desire to learn more about the Bible.
Q: How can I get involved in this program?
- All women are certainly welcome at our special events, meetings, or in our Bible classes. This ministry is a great way to get to know women at Galilee. Most of our events are publicized through church publications. More information may be learned from Mary Tharp, our director for 2011-2012, 706-424-1089.
